Salcon celebrated World Water Day with 30 students and 3 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong through the fun River & Water Awareness Education Programme at the Lembah Kiara Recreation Park, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur today.

This is Salcon’s fourth consecutive year of organizing the River & Water Awareness Education Programme in collaboration with Water Watch Penang (WWP) and Malaysian Water Partnership (MyWP). The programme is part of the company’s continuous effort of cultivating love for our rivers among students via a hands-on approach.
The school was invited to celebrate World Water Day with Salcon through this river programme which provides a platform for the students to get exposure in the great outdoors rather than being just cooped up in the classroom. The World Water Day 2013, celebrated on 22 March will be devoted to the theme of water cooperation

Children enjoyed catching microorganism in the river during the river activity.

Laughter and excitement were evident in the students faces as they rolled up their trousers and got their feet wet in the shallow river whilst conducting water monitoring via physical, biological and chemical tests under the guidance of WWP facilitators.

They were taught how to define the health of river water through its colour, smell, pH level, dissolved oxygen level and aquatic organisms by using water monitoring kits.

Colouring activity was organized for the children, their artwork with logo of World Water Day was made into a button badge as a souvenir for them.
